Is XP service pack two still bad for a64's??

I remember reading about a month ago that there was some part of sp2 that conflicted with atlon64's. Is this still the case, or has Microsoft released a patch fixing this issue yet?
Thanks a ton,
Sam

I have an athlon64 3400+ in my notebook and sp2 works just fine for me. i guess i got lucky but i havent had any issues and i didnt install any other patches

If you read the KB article, you just disable the execution protection feature and things are hunky-dory.

search in the Operating System forum for the details. Probably in archived threads here and in Software forum too.

i have an athlon 64, and i run win xp sp2 with data execution protection on for all programs and it works perfectly.

The only program you might want to consider removing it for is Doom III. I had problems with it crashing when it was enabled.
