assuming moderate OC. I was thinking of going to SI-120 but it may not be justified. Is one easier to install than the other?

I will tell you that both are easy to install provided you do your homework and read the manuals that come with the Heatsinks.....
the important thing is to walk yourself through the insdtall before doing the install so you have a real good idea what you need to do@@

Good Luck!!

I have the SI-120 on my 3800 x2. I was getting 30C idle at stock.

Right now I'm getting 38C @ 2.5 Ghz with 1.45v CPU voltage.

Does the job for me. Ive never had a XP-90 so I cannot compare.

Xp-90 should definitely be fine. The only thing I dont like about the xp-90 is it uses a 92mm fan, which is going to be louder than lets say a 120mm fan. I love the heatsink though. I dont see myself changing anytime soon. Ive run it on my x2, my opteron's, venices. It works great. Cheap, light, works great. What more can you ask for.

I use an XP-90 with a Zalman 92mm fan in Silent mode (1600 RPM) on my 3000+ Winchester. Temps are 35 °C idle and 44 °C load. You can probably reach the same temps with a more powerful fan.

Yes the XP-90 will be sufficient. The SI-120 is a better idea though since you will get a little bit better cooling performance (the major difference between the XP-90 & the SI-120 is actually quite dependent on the fan used) and it will also cool your mobo/ram, etc as well.

Neither is difficult to install . . .

21C!?!?!? What the....? :p Thats some low friggin temps with an XP-90. Nice. My opty 144 @ 2.6ghz idles at about 34C with a low rpm fan with my xp-90.
