Is XP 64 Bit any better now???

I have an Athlon 64 3000+ which I have been waiting to use to it's full potential. I got Windows XP 64 bit version a while ago around when it first came out, but upon loading, I found that several of my programs would not work. I primarily do 3D on my computer, so thats why I'm trying to improve performance.

I was just wondering if Windows 64-bit Edition has improved much and if I should give it another try. I dont want to use Vista 64 bit AT ALL because it requires too much from my system.

Not really, it's possible 64-bit drivers exist that didn't when you first tried it but that's about it.

If you are into gaming, it is better to stick to Windows XP Pro 32-bit if you have an nforce3 chipset it seems.

Here are a few benchmarks between my x32 and x64 XP Pro installs:

System:
Gigabyte K8NS Ultra 939 (nforce3 Ultra)
SB Audigy 2 ZS
AMD Athlon64 4000+ (San Diego)
WD Raptor 36gb (1st gen)

Drivers latest for all devices, save the motherboard chipset (performance differences outlined below), I made sure that previous driver versions were fully removed before trying another set (had a backup of the windows install). V-sync disabled on all tests and I used all of the drivers (save audio) bundled with each driver install package during setup.
