I had a topic that asked how eVGA/XFX/BFG compare to each other. I got a few responses, but nobody wanted to actually answer my question. So, I guess I have to be more specific. Is XFX a good brand?

Not really. Go with eVGA or BFG first.

I've heard of some people having good luck with XFX cards, but more often I hear horror stories.

Well, I am currently RMAing a eVGA 7900 GT CO Superclock. The tech support at eVGA, Mwave, and Dell all agree that my card is DOA. So, I guess even eVGA has problems.

Why start another thread?
It really doesn't matter which brand you get.

Personally I'd go with evga because you can remove the heatsink w/o voiding warrenty, among other things like THE BEST customer service. You just got unlucky with a bad card, rma it and get another one.

XFX had a very bad rep back in the 6X00 days. Since the release of the 7X00 series cards they have been much improved.

Here in the UK its very difficult to find eVGA cards (unless I'm just not looking in the right places) so I always tend to go for XFX. With their lifetime warranty, it shouldn't be an issue if something goes wrong. And really, whatever brand you choose, things *do* go wrong. I wouldn't let this problem you're having put you off eVGA. I'd buy from them if I could.

XFX has the best warranty (double lifetime) and one of the fastest card on the market, thats all I know about them.

I'll try with the next card. As soon as they are available (damn the current non-existence of 7900GT(X) cards on the german market). I go for the XFX 7900GT XXX. 560/1650 clocks for ~350 bucks can't be wrong...and hopefully some O/C potential left due to the picked chips... :D
The EVGA CO superclock does "only" 550/1580 for ~400 bucks...

Double life-time is not better than life-time warrenty, never really understood that concept but w/e. I havn't had any problems with my XFX card. But I bought it uneducated. Had I known better I would have gone with eVGA..

Double lifetime is better than lifetime - the warranty is transferrable if you sell it.

I sure wish I had a double lifetime 2 years ago when my bfg ti4600 died. However, I wasn't the original purchaser so the lifetime warranty was useless.

Is the warranty only transferable once or can you sell it on again? I guess the answer is in the word 'double' but just wanted to clarify....

It is only transferable once. Also the original owner must register the card with XFX, then the second owner must alos register the card to actually get the warranty. So if buying a used one, make certain the seller is the original owner and has actually registered the card with XFX.

My 6800 GT has been great. The one time I used support, it was nothing short of amazingly fast.

I recommended xfx to my friend when he purchased a 7800gt because of their awesome warranty and incredibely low prices. Although ive heard of their 6xxx lineup had a few issues ive read reviews and was confident that his card wouldnt go wrong. Their cards hold great value with their competitive overclocks against other big manufacturers.
