Is xbox live worth it?

I'm going to get xbox live depending on the responses on this thread. Is there any flaws?,,,just plug and play?..Have you had any problems with it at all. lemme know.
And what games would be the best to play on it , i'm a FPS player.

How many Xbox live games do you have? If you have like 2, most likely not but some people think it is worth it to get XBlive despite only having one game... Halo2.

I still have not tried halo 2 on xbox live and i still have my 2 month free trial, maybe one day.

It depends on you. I'm a very addicted UT2k4 for the PC player... I simply couldn't adapt to the slower style of Halo/2 on XBL. Movement was slower, dying causes you to wait a few secs to run back to where you were (slowly)... I just couldn't deal. It wasn't a matter of keyboard/mouse either.

For online gaming, I'll stick to the PC. I dumped XBL after the 2 month trial. I think I had the urge to log in about 5 times during that period. I used it to get roster downloads for my sports games, but that was it. Oh yes... I played NHL2k5 on XBL... the slight delay (not really lag, just not instant) was not very comforting either. Again, I couldn't deal.

EDIT>>> Maybe if a fast-paced open environment game like Mercenaries were XBL'd, the experience would be completely different.

Yes it is worth it. Halo 2 is a blast on XBL and it is only $50 a year. Also you should not have any problems setting it up.

I activated my 2 month trial last week solely to play Halo2. It's the only game I've played with XBL, so I don't know about it's value in other games. With Halo 2, it's been great. There's occasional lag and maps failing to load, but other than that I haven't had any problems.

Activation is easy, though kind of a pain to enter in all your info.

I have it but don't use it much. I always wait to get games until I can get a nice deal on a used one and by then there's not as many people playing them...

I have NHL2k5 and wondered how it played online. Lags eh. not good. I'll need a FPS hopefully the lag is not too bad...Considering for a hundered bux plus tax I can get the headset,plus one full year of live online.
Just wanted some comments,i think i'll get it.

You won't find too many players on NHL2k5 either. That's the other part of the problem. ESPN MLBaseball 2k5... not a single person online at night when I checked. I'm sure you'll see more for FPS. There are always plenty for Halo 2.

dude i purchased xbox live in september. honestly, if it wasn't for xbox live, i think my console days of gaming would be over. i just wasn't playing xbox much at all anymore. that is until i got xbox live.

since i purchased xbox live, i dont think i have played a single player game. i have 6 games for it. i constantly play halo 2 when i am at home. they even have a cool stat tracking thing for halo 2. check it out, here are my stats.

it is SSSSOOOOO worth it. my only gripe is that i waited so long to purchase xbox live . i wish i had purchased it when it first came out so that i could have been having this fun all along.

and oh yea, i have a 1yr card i am trying to get rid of. i'd sell it to you for like $40 if you want. LMK.

HALO 2 = funnest game i have ever played on a console in recent years. i just can't stress how fun the multi is on it, and on xbox live i really have not experienced much lag at all, with the exception of a few matches in halo 2 (but hey, with over 700 of those, you have to experience SOME lag)

try xbox connect (Free online gaming with your xbox) and see if it hooks you.
if you're sold, sign up for Live and get all the percs (rankings, new maps, downloadable content, voice chat, buddy list...etc)
