Is Xbox live required for getting roster updates in Madden 06?

I know its great for online gaming, and if I had more time to do that, then I woudl probablly go for it. But I don't have much time to play, so I don't see it being worth it. All I really want is to be able to get updated rosters for games such as madden 06. I assume stuff like that still needs xbox live. But since I don't have mine networked right now, I have no way of finding otu, other then asking.

I did google, but didn't see the info I needed. But I am sure there are many people here with the answer to my question, so thanks in advance.

I agree it is better suited at a place like that, but I can't see going through the registration process, just to ask one question.
