Is x800 Pro worth $50 over a 6600GT ?

Hey all. I saw a good deal with limited quantity on a Saphire x800 pro AGP (Bulk) card for $206 shipped... Thats roughly $50 over a 6600 GT card...

So do you guys think its worth to get 1 of those over a 6600GT... or should I wait till the RS520 come out in August hopefully... coz prices should get even cheaper that this ??

Opnions advices... ?

ps. I think I mostly play Directx games than games like Doom3... that are Nvidia favorites..

yes. it's aabout 6800gt speed(slightly slower, but ocs very well, and with a little hardmodding, it'll turn into a full fledged X800XT or XTPE)

Many people buying X800xl forget that it's a horrible ocer and that a X800pro, which is cheaper, could potentially most of the time be much faster after a little bit of work.

only very few dont unlock because of problems. If yuo are willing to take a risk, (almost 90% work) yuo could have a awesome card.

heheh yeah I see, n thnx for that info... but kinda scary to me to try the Hardmoddin... at least for now.

I guess u answered my question of "is it worth it over a 6600gt or not..." since its just slightly slower than a 6800gt... and i dont think a 6800 gt will ever go under $200 anytime soon... even after August.. or do u think it will? If any1 thinks otherwise pls state ur opinion...

if you don't want to mess with your card it might be better just to get a X800XL, thats what I'm getting 16 pipes, 256 Bit 256 MB oh yeah.

I'm not messing around with overclocking and unlocking either.

But a x800xl agp costs like 330, I'd definitely go for the Pro at that price. Where did you find that deal anyway? 🙂

OMG, X800xl is ony around 5% faster stock. and the X800pro easily pulls ahead with an average oc versus a X800xl with an average oc. WTF would he spend $70 for 5% improvement that will disspear with a oc? You dont even need a hardmod to win the speed war, all you need is to oc it!

I really dont get why everyone orgasams when a X800xl is mentioned. It's a weak card designwise. Sure it's got 16pipes, but the X800pro is so much better in general. The only good thing is it uses slightly less power.

The X800XL is a way better card all-around.

If you wanna hardware mod your card and OC, sure get the X800 Pro.

Out of the box the X800XL is faster by 5-10% with no AA.

Turn AA on and it will be upwards of 30% faster.

Plus he can find an X800XL for $250, less than $50 difference.

IF you want a benchmarking card, don't get an X800XL.

If you want a gamers card that will allow you to play any game smoothly with a minimal hit when turning up the detail and AA, the X800XL is the way to go.

For example, I score 5624 in 3DMark05 no AA. 5100 4xAA.

Those 4 extra pipes make all the difference in the world when turning on AA and AF.

Thats the Saphire one... but im afraid its OEM... though Tigerdirect has a Connect3d Retail for same price...

I think I changed my mind and i am going to wait another month till the RS520 comes out and see what happens... not in a rush yet
But Iam sure I'd deal with the softmodding that x800 pro... not the hardmodding thou... good to know it does overclock nicely...

Is it possible to unlock the 4 Pipes only with the flashing? or in other words with Softmodding ? Or u have to do the hardmod as well to fully unlock em?
