Is X58 or P55 more future proof?

I think this is the first time in awhile where Intel has released a new chipset while also planning to release additional CPUs for it's old chipset.

Does anyone have any opinion on which (X58 vs P55) will be more future proof?

The reason I ask is because I just noticed the BRAND NEW alienware box uses x58 vs p55

That's because the X58 isn't the "old" chipset. One is the high-end platform, the other the mainstream.

Neither is future proof past the next chipset. Neither has SATA III nor USB 3.0 built into the chipset, nor any other possible future technologies. I just point those out because they are already or soon to be available.

For strictly future CPUs, they both will get more.
