does it matter using a wireless card for gamers or wired? are there significant disadvantages of wireless?
 
There are disadvantages to wireless, it just isn't as consistent as wired and variables outside your control that can cause poor performance.
 
It all depends on your environment and if there are any other clients on the wireless network. Can wireless work fine for gaming? Sure, but you will have variable latency just because of the nature of wireless. The swing of that latency depends on your environment.

With wired, the performance and frame delivery is virtually guaranteed. Not so much with wireless.
