Obviously, support for XP applications in later versions of Windows is a big issue for Microsoft to implement this great and seamless feature (at least on paper it seems great). I've been thinking, is this really the answer to the legacy problem? Now, I may be stupid, but wouldn't having this feature kill the initiative for applications that currently only work in XP to have the updated versions (or new software) run in Vista/7? The applications would just be XP apps working inside Win7. If these applications have no initiative to have their apps run in newer versions of WIndows, then would Windows 8 and above be nothing but a pretty interface with XP in the backend? Again, I just may be stupid.
