OK, So I'm playing Age of Empires II, and getting choppy performance (dunno why, never had it before, but it keeps happening lately for some reason). So, I exit, and go free up some RAM. I ctrl+alt+del everything except for Explorer and Systray. I have 160 Megs of RAM. I check my performance tab, whaddya know, 160 megs of RAM and only 71% free, with no programs running, only Explorer and Systray are running.

WTF? Are there some programs running that Windows isn't telling me about? Is the bastard cheating me out of some precious RAM?

if you're running win9x or ME try a program called wintop.. it shows you all processes.

Yup, window's memory managment isn't too hot. Tends to leak. Which windows are you using?

windows leaks. check to see your free resources after a fresh restart. you can also type "msconfig" at the run prompt. on of the tabs will should you progz at startup. all that you need it systray and explorer. you can also download regcleaner and use it to clear your registry.

Also check out hot deals every once in a while. Triple that ram ammount with change you find in your couch at the prices they're going for now. :)

I have 512mb, and only have 73% resorces free. Windows seems to just grab the same percentage no matter how much ram you have.
