Is Windows 10 security plus Malwarebytes pay better than Pay Antivirus and Free Malwarebytes?

Got a new laptop, HP 17z. It had a trial version of McAfee, due to expire today.

Before this, I owned an ancient XP desktop circa 2004, with no antivirus-I kept no credit card or financial info at all, never used it to purchase anything. I used it just for fun, didn't care if anyone cracked it.

In the past, I've had good results with the free version of Malwarebytes, but I imagine the pay version is more effective. I've also been reading some things which seem to indicate that the normal firewall and security of Windows 10 is about as good as McAfee, Norton and the rest. Since Malwarebytes seems to get different types of threats than McAfee, Norton etc, I was wondering if instead of going with a commercial internet security system and the free Malwarebytes scans, I might not be better off paying for the always-on version of Malwarebytes and the re-installing Windows 10 firewall and security.

Any advice on this is appreciated.

None of that and all the updates in the world will stop polymorphic malware. I would look into Sandboxie. Then just scan your downloads at virus total. Scan the computer with Herdprotect portable as it uses 68 malware engines.

I don't know what the obsession with Malwarebytes ,Avast and Ccleaner is. I just shake my head, especially when people think Ccleaner is a damn anti-virus remover. SystemNinja will find a hell of a lot more temp files than Ccleaner. I'll bet money on that in the form of bitcoin. :D
