Is WinBench99 freeware? (Please don't laugh too hard!)

I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Rand recommended it as a really good HD benchmarking utility. I put stock in what he says. I've tried to find it but can't find it anywhere I looked (Microsoft, TweakMax, other tweak pages, etc) Help.

You know.... I don't even know where I found the link to d/l it from now.
It's freeware though.
Might try Storage Review...

I think this link should provide you what your looking for... WB99.
It's older and a bit behind the times, but it's pretty thorough and is excellent for low level performance testing and decent for overall performance HDD testing. More thorough that HDTach, and you don't need to pay to get it to run under NTFS.

IOMeter is also quite good, undoubtedly better then WB99.... but undortunateloy the results are really only applicable to server usage.
