I use VLC for movies and Winamp for music. Media Player Classic is also pretty good.

I use WMP for everything, I just love WMP12. :)

I do use Media Player Classic just to be able to run two movies at once but general use is usually WMP. If you need something other than WMP for videos, MPC should fit the bill. It's just an awesome little app.

There's nothing wrong with Winamp for video, I love the Media Library, while I do use GOM I don't see what makes it better. Sure it has a lot of video options you can tweak but Winamp seems to do a good job without any fussing with it.

goms strength is in quick full motion seeking, hot keys for jumping around...and time stretching

For all-in-one solutions, WMP11 is the best IMO. Sure foobar or winamp might play with (ever so slightly) better quality or are more customizable, and VLC can play any videos without installing codecs on the system...but I really like WMP11's interface.

To be honest though, I love the Zune software's interface for music even more. I wish they would merge WMP format support/capabilities with the newest Zune software interface in Windows 7 and have just one A/V software solution.

+1 vote for Windows Media Player Classic. (That comes with the K-lite codec pack) I use it for all my video needs. And audio too, sometimes. But my preference for that is Winamp in classic mode.
