Is Wii Region Locked?

I bought a Wii in Canada but my girl friend wants to bring it back to Taiwan. Is Wii region locked?

Yes, it is. Did you really expect anything else out of Nintendo?

Yes. You'll need a mod chip or some other solution to play games from other regions. And you'll have to be careful about blocking updates that come with some games, because updating a Wii from one region to the firmware from another is a good way to semi-brick (or completely brick) the console.

yes, it is region locked. but supposely, wii is very popular in taiwan , people were buying NA region consoles too, you might be able to get NA games in taiwan at an inflated price.

with the chip solution you have to watch out for game updates

with the software solution, you have to load the update blocker.
