Is WHQL certification important for nvidia drivers?

I was checking the nvidia website for new drivers, and the newest detonator drivers is not WHQL certified, it doesnt even say its a candidate. If the WHQL certification important? Does it affects its performance for windows? does it make windows less stable? thanks.

No, Yes, No.

It affects the performance in that NVIDIA without WHQL certification is able to put in optimizations (like clock tweaks) that are not allowed by WHQL in the driver set. WHQL cert means nothing.

i dont care if it is WHQL certified or not, just as long as it works good.

BTW when are the Linux drivers getting WHQL certified. MUAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHA

it is just because nvidia can't get their fx cards to preform decent when running at the precision that microsoft mandates, o doubt there is any issue to worry about other than that.

I used to think WHQL was important and with some video cards it's wise to only use WHQL drivers however Nvidia's drivers are the best whether WHQL or not. Is stability a condition for WHQL certification? If not it should be however then ATI wouldn't have WHQL drivers either! 😉

Don't worry about WHQL certification but make sure you only download the drivers from Nvidia!

Nvidia are bringing out WHQL drivers this month I believe, anyway non-WHQL drivers just means that it has not been tested or approved by Microsoft,I`m using the latest non-WHQL 43.45 drivers and they are solid as a rock for me,so don`t worry about if they are WHQL or not,the main thing is how they perform in your system 😉.

🙂

The lack of WHQL could well be because nVidia is not meeting the minimum FP spec required for DirectX 9.0.

You gotta be kidding me? nVidia's beta drivers are absolute garbage! I was using the WHQL 40.72's which are great but I decided to try the 43.45 betas and my 3DMark2001 score went from 14,587 to 10,715!!! Needless to say I'm back with the WHQL 40.72's. nVidia used to have the best drivers but not anymore, eh ATI?:disgust:

Your judging whether a driver is good or not by using 3dmark? That's abit lame isn't it, what about using games instead?

If Nvidia wanted they could give you a 3dmark score of 50,000, ofcourse your games would run like c*ap!

3dmark2001 is fairly indicative of dx gaming performace in general you know nemesismk2, it seems rather lame to me that you might ignore that.

Only a lamer judges performance using just one benchmark, you should know that Snotman. 😉

You say 3dmark2001 is indicative of dx gaming then prove it!!!

Hey, nemesismk2! Why are you dissing Snowman by calling him Snotman? You must be one of those 13 year old punks who gets on the net when your mother and father aren't looking. You are a disgrace. Don't ever post here again.:|

I guess you spend too much time here and lost your sense of humour in the process, get a life it was just a joke hence the 😉

I'm sure your boyfriend snotman will appreciate your support. 😉

ya i don't get upset about people joking around on names or because of some repressed homosexual tendances anyway, so no worries there. however nemesismk2; i am not going to waste my time to "prove it" to you when you can go look around at benchmarks all over the place and note that 3dmark2k1 standings have a tendency to relate directly to the performance deltas in many other games. also note that 3dmark2k1 uses rendering techniques which are fairly common thought the industry which is exactly why the benchmark compares well with real world performance. granted there are exceptions to such things, but that just like like the fact that q3 scores will not give always be a good indicator of rtcw performance; that does not change the fact that it is often a very valid comparison.

The problem is that some people put too much faith in 3dmark scores, companies like Nvidia and ATI know this and spend too much time optimising their drivers for 3dmark. I want high gaming performance and good stability, these are more important to me than a worthless 3dmark score.
