Is WesternUnion decent for money orders?

Basically want to know if this is the standard online way to purchase money orders.

BidPay is a different company now--one that doesn't allow for money orders (requires bank accounts and such).

I just want to send some money to an eBayer and I can't use Paypal. (I was banned long ago because -I- was paid by some scammer with a stolen card and the original owner charged back after I withdrew from Paypal. Paypal told me I owed them money. I told them to go fly a kite and that it was their job as a financial organization to protect me against scammers. They notified me 3 months after the payment was received, BTW. So I didn't do a quick withdrawl.)

I would buy a USPS money order and mail it personally.

Not an option for me. I'm not in the continent 😀

I know the recipient of this one is legit. I would also prefer to buy it online for convenience reasons (I can't get to a brick and mortar anytime soon.)

I see. I have never used WU before and I personally wouldn't accept anything from them as a form of payment. Hopefully someone that has used WU will chime in.

I'm not aware of anyone other than WU that has online money orders. Be prepared, they have called me every time to confirm the order.

I use Western Union all the time, different locations have charge different fees though. I find Money Mart here in Toronto have the lowest fees.

If someone offered me WU as payment and they were covering all the fees, I would take it. Accepting WU is the safest form of payment (safer than cash, no counterfieting if that worries you), no reversing the payment once it is recieved.

Only the sender pays fees on a Western Union Money Transfer. Charges vary with the amount sent. Western Union will absolutely rape you on fees for Money Transfers through their system.

Then again, the OP never mentioned a W.U. Money *Transfer*...he/she was inquiring about Western Union Money *Orders*. At my store, we charge 69 cents (plus tax, so 72 cents) for any amount you send. If, however, your money order request is larger than 500 dollars, it will print two separate money orders and the more retarded office managers at my job will charge you twice.

AFAIK, W.U. money orders are alright. Not backed by the USPS though...wish they were.
