my board is MSi 865G Neo 2 - LS which comes with a native support for SATA through Intel ICH5 chipset (serial ata/150 ports), i have purchased this board for about a year now, i want to know if i will need to upgrade my board to optimize the raptor to its fullest potential? am planning to buy the 36gb raptor now, am just worried if my board is best fitted for it. thanks!

If it has a SATA connector and you are not planing on using RAID then you are all set (Assuming you have cables and such). I think the ICH5 supports NCQ, while Raptor drives do TCQ which is of no consiquence to the avg. user and NCQ isn't "all that" . You should be fine just make sure you have ports, cables, drivers, and SATA enabled in your BIOS.

raptors are actually parallel ATA drives with a Serial ATA bridge . . . i think only "pure" SATA drives can do NCQ
