is warranty transferred if I sell a laptop?

I'm trying to sell this guy a high-end compaq laptop, but he first wants to know if he can use the warranty after I've sold it to him. how does that normally work? do they care what name it's under, or is it good enough if you just know the serial # or whatever of the unit?
 
Warranties NEVER transfer.

Ones that do are commonly seen going to bars with Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, Elvis, and some little green dood with a butt probe.
 
i know for a fact that Compaq's extended warranties don't, but you should call them about their normal warranty.

IBM warranties their laptops no matter who owns it, and i think you can transfer Dell laptop warranties.

You can transfer Dell's warranty if the owner on file with Dell calls in and asks for a transfer.


But about Compaq, I don't think so.

😀 Workin' and no fun time. I've been running my ass off for work, and the workload is getting heavier. Anyway, the truck was sold long ago and I got a 98 Stang GT /w nitrous that I am gonna sell really soon to get another truck. Dumb move, yeah, but I need a bed and 4WD.
