i hear that visine has something in it that makes your blood vessels (capillaries) shrink... causing the redness to get out. i'm wondering if there are any short-term/long-term consequences to using visine. does anyone know?

Just don't use it while you're wearing contacts.

I'm not sure about the eyes, but it's bad on your stomach and gives you the runs. I know bartenders that slip Visine in drinks when they have repeat customers that do not tip...

Visine used to take the red out of my eyes, but in the past couple of months it has started burning and making them more red than they were. Clear eyes all the way.

Says specifically on the label NOT to use with contacts. Not sure why....probably breaks down the contact material to a certain extent.

You can get Visine for contacts, but it's basically just rewetting drops, not "Visine"

I also read/heard somewhere that if you over-use eye drops your eyes get dryer over time as you they stop moistening themselves as much. Kinda like overuseing lip gloss, your lips stop moisturizing themselves.

I've never heard that.

I only use Visine if my eyes are red/pink or irritated.

Nope... it is definitely true. Does not get along with your stomach AT ALL. :)

Edit: Put a little visine in whatever you're drinking, and test it for yourself. ;)

I use to use it every morning, until my doctor told me not too..

She said that if you use it all the time, your eyes will become immune to it and not work,.
Then your eyes will always red..

I believe it, I was just referring to an episode of CSI:Miami where a waitress put some Visine in a guy's drink b/c he didn't tip and was playing high stakes tables. And no thank, I won't try it on myself....but I hear one of my buddies unknowingly just volunteered ;)
