Is virtualdub smp capable?

this would be great as i could record in a higher bitrate on my tv card! the tv card question spawned this idea..

Not sure I understand your question, but... if you're asking if VirtualDub is able to utilize both cpus at the same time then the answer is... maybe 🙂

Not kidding though. I just tested it and I got it using betwen 49% and 57% of my cpus. So in one sense it does seem to use both cpus, but not very well.

Since I'm not an expert, if anyone comes up with a better explanation then go with it. But I'm not sure I understand the relationship between bitrate and smp.😕

Virtual Dub has a drop down menu for changing the process priority for encoding. It can severely slow down other process's on your PC though, and if you aren't doing much else, it doesn't significantly speed up the encoding..

i just attempted to record 640x480 in divx [600kps] with monosoundmp3 [5kps]. it actually didnt start dropping frames until after 10 seconds! i expected more, but i guess its not programmed verywell. cpu % jumps to 187% and sometimes to 195%. =)

so, i gues it does. i does do 480xsomething at divx of 910kps very smoothly. and thats just loading 1 proc up. so i can do other things.

did u guys ever notice how freaking fast you can unzip files!??!
