Is Viking memory any good?

I've got the chance to pick up a few 512mb sticks pretty cheaply but I was wondering if spending a few extra dollars(about 10) for better known ram is worth it.

is this SDRAM or DDR type?
i remember viking use to be good with the regular SDRAM, after that never heard of how well they do in DDR.
maybe others have better opinion

value ram is just as good as expensive ram in most cases
