Folks.....I'm considering upgrading my video card ( GeForce 2 GTS 32megs ) to get the GeForce 3 450ti that was rated very well on Anands review....I see it selling for about $155. So I was wondering a couple of quick things

I am very excited to get this GeForce 3 450ti card cause it has video out but I want to know from all you people that have experience with VIDEO OUT cards....what should I expect in terms of quality, sharpness, color, framerate when watching a DVD movie......I am primarily going to be watching alot of DVD movies on my 27' Sony TV. I have an Athlon 1.4 processor

My 2nd question is this.....Is it worth the price for the jump in performance from what i already have in terms of 3d gameplay?

And my last question is this.........Has anyone ever noticed a difference between 32megs and 64megs of video memory?......where is this supposed to actually make a difference in gameplay speed, framerates, ect??

thanks

I have the Gainward Ti450, upgraded from a 32MB GF2 GTS, the performance difference in gameplay is huge. The GTS was *OK* at 1024x768 using 16 bit color. The GF3 is awesome at 1600x1200 and 32 bit color. Running on a 1.4 Athlon tbird.

The TV-out quality is nothing to write home about. Certainly not nearly as good as my Radeon or Rage Fury Pro, even. And not remotely like a set-top DVD player. I haven't tried using a shareware utility available called TV Tool, which supposedly makes it a lot better, since usually the machine with the GF3 is in my office and not connected to the TV.

I have tried tv tool with my geforce, even though it was an older geforce, but the imiage was noticalby better. But my radeon 8500 out puts perfectly to the tv, and well worth it imho.

WOW....thanks

Anyone else have opinions on the quality of the VIDEO OUT to a 27' TV??

I'm really wanting this to kick oss so I can watch all my DVDs from my PC to my TV!!

Also, how does the quality of the VIDEO OUT compare to the quality of the XBOX DVD player on a TV?

If you plan on watching DVD movies on the T.V grab a Hollywood+ decoder and don't hook up the passthrough cable to the video card. I used my hollywood before getting the stand alone DVD player and it worked great for T.V out. You can also use software decoders when you want to view the DVD on your monitor. I'm running the radeon 8500 and I still think the output is better on the Hollywood from what I remember of it. Maybee I should plug the hollywood back in the box and compare the image quality, but from what I remember it was compareable to the stand alone player and had AC3 output as well.
