tyan trinity 400 rev b 133a based mobo w/ guillemot(hercules) prophet sdr. works great for ~1month then vid card dies.

guillemot tech told me to flash newest bios (fixes conflict with 133a)--> flash utility gives error "supported EEPROM not found" -->got an rma and it just happened again after 1 month!!! --> didn't flash newest bios-assumed it would come already programed.--> have 2nd rma on the way and i need help! I'm so green at this, I could have my mobo bios settings all wrong any ideas? advice?

I could be wrong, but I don't think that a AP 133/A mainboard can wreck a video card. Maybe it's time to think about a different Vidcard. The GF2 MX's provide esssentially the same performance as GF SDR's. They also suck a lot less power from the PS, via the mainboard. They don't get very hot if you don't OC them, either. The SDR's do.

I have TT400(B) and CL DDR. I had to upgrade to 300w PSU
to make it run without problems but otherwise it works fine.

However the GeForce chip was running very hot.
That feeble HSF on the card just isnt enough.

I suspect the heat is killing your videocard.

I simply put it in a freezer for an hour or so
and then carefully popped up HFS with a knife.
Put thermal grease on the chip and glued decent HFS.

Now its cool to the touch even after hours of Q3A.

EDIT
Dont forget to remove the remains of old glue from the chip
before applying grease.Put a just a touch of new glue on corners.
