Recently I just had a hamburger made from kobe beef, def. the best burger I've ever had, but was kind of expensive, people were telling me the quality of that meat is way too good for a burger.

If it tastes good, what's the problem? You know if it costs too much for you or not.

If you think it was worth the money you paid for it, then it was worth the money you paid for it.

Other people might have different opinions.

Well hamburgers are usually made from some of the worst meat you can find, the thought is that kobe beef belongs as a steak, not a burger.
Personally I think it was well worth it.

having a quality hamburger is definitly what matters. i like mcdonalds burgers over burger joints's burgers unless that place has some of the best burger's I have ever tasted. My favorite hamburger? Made in a place called 'Coasters' at Cedar Point. Damn if I have to pay $5 for a burger, but it just tastes.. mmmmmmmmm it tastes so good :D

lol, that burger was many times that, that's the problem, you can't eat several of them in one sitting like I would like to, unless I was willing to spend a lot of money.

Did you have this buger in japan? If not it wasn't true kobe beef, more likely "kobe-style" beef slaughtered in the US.

I thought Japanese beef imports were banned due to mad cow disease? And American Kobe beef is way too expensive for a burger.

Other way around.

Why would you grind up Kobe beef to make hamburgers when you could eat it as steak?

Kobe Beef?

If you're asking what it is:
Basically is a special cow from Japan that are fed special foods and are massaged to keep the meat on them tender. They take 4 times longer to grow than American steer hence the higher price. The result is a piece of meat that is filled with a lot of fat to keep it tender and very moist. I learned that on Iron Chef actually.

Those cows can no longer can be imported to America so they are bred specially here. I don't remember why they banned Japanese meat here, maybe mad cow disease?

Hm, iron chef recently had american kobe beef (cattle imported from japan). They mentioned that they are now banned from import into the U.S., hence the most expensive beef in the world.

So how much was it and where'd you get it?

Personally i wouldn't want it in a burger. It would be better than a normal burger, but with each bite, you also have bread, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, etc with it. If i was going to eat such good meat, i would want to enoy it in as pure of a form as possible.

Wow, that's dirt cheap. Where was it? I suspect it probably wasn't kobe.

I just said it in a previous post. Keep in mind this wasn't enough beef to be used as a steak, hence the reason it was a burger.

It basically price true kobe beef in japan goes for well over $100 a pound. And the whole massaging things really has nothing to do with the tenderness of the beef, its more for the comfort of the cattle since they spend all of their live barely moving.
