Is USB on K7S5A 1.0 or 2.0?

I thought it was 2.0, but when I plug in my Kingston card reader it says something like "A HI-SPEED USB device is plugged into a non HIGH-SPEED hub."

I'm using the extra USB ports on the mobo (attached to the front of the case).

That seems to be a very common occurrence with high-speed USB 2.0 devices. I have a Dell 1901FP LCD monitor with integrated USB 2.0 hub, and the same error message usually appears when I turn on the monitor -- despite being connected to a USB 2.0 port on my ASUS P4P800 motherboard. Occasionally it'll work correctly and not display the error message.

Others have stated that you can often avoid this error message by plugging in the device slowly. If true, this seems like a rather serious design shortcoming with the high-speed USB 2.0 standard.

Also... not all K7S5A boards support USB 2.0. The older ones usually don't, but the newer K7S5A 'Pro' boards usually (always?) do.

I used service pack 4 for windows 2000 to get my sis usb driver to work properly. Look in the device manager to see if usb 2.0 is enabled.

IIRC USB 2.0 started appearing on the K7S5A PROs (rev 5.0?)

Anything before would be USB 1.1 (rev 3.2, 3.1 etc.)

K7S5A has USB 1.1 only. The "pro" revision has an additional VIA USB 2.0 controller on, serving the four ports on its back. The internal USB headers (for front USB, internal card readers etc) are USB 1.1.
