yes, in theory, but just liek everythig else in life, theory is only for instances where physics students have to learn about physics.;)

if the dvd is massless, the drive motor is frictionless, the usb cable's resistance is zero, and you are using the drive outside of earths gravitational field... itll work fine =)

That's what i meant. I'm so used to typing without capitalization I forget to use it where it's important. I made up for my mistake by using proper capitalization and punctuation in this post.
