Is upsetting someone ever OK?

If you upset someone because of a petty argument, does that make it totally OK, rather than upsetting someone because of something more serious?

Generally, I would say no.

But, it depends on the person. There's a girl on staff whose mind I enjoy playing with, so I get some sick pleasure out of pissing her off. That's the only occasion I can think of where it might be appropriate.

Yes. If they get upset about things that are that petty, they deserve it.

edit: By the way, that's a joke. Wasn't sure if it was obvious or not.

If someone's upset over something petty it may be they have a hard time taking criticism or honesty.

I upset people on a regular basis I beleive in honesty.

If someone asks me what I think I am honest. (unless she is really hot)

most of the time the argument is caused by the way you confront the person or how you express your anger/frustration.

try collecting your thoughts first and then spit them out in the nicest way possible :) and sincerest

I like being flat out honest, whether that'll upset someone is up to how they think.
