Is Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Good for Win2k?

My question as stated. I just got an Philips Acoustic Edge sound card for my win2k and its crackling at me..its probably just a random defect out of the 100's of other good things I've heard about it, but I'm wondering what you guys think of the turtle? I might just get that instead, it got higher ratings by ZD.

Also, a question unrelated, I also just got a 1.2 gigahert AMD processor 266 mhz bus. I have an Abit kt7..is there something I need to do in bios to tell it my processor is 266 and not 200, or is it automatic? Thanks for your opinion guys.

hm..well yeah I did. However, the sound is still grainy and crackles whenever I open a program while its on...and that same incessant crackle is there to a lesser degree when just playing music without doing anything. I have a 1.2 gigahert AMD so I doubt my computer is the problem. I may just have a defective sound card...which is why I was considering the turtle. You have any suggestions? =/

BTW, if you have a KT7 (not KT7A), you can run it at 266. You'll need to unlock it and up the multiplier to compensate for the 200MHz FSB.

I have had a great experience with the Santa Cruz in Win2K. I play lots of MP3's and now enjoy the greater audio quality and absense of hiccups/cracks/pops, and my brother plays Unreal Tournament and really appreciates the 10 times better 3D audio which comes at no performance hit.

Only gripe is the mixer app is a tad bit unstable. However, it is much more full-featured than the complicated Creative mixer. So I'm okay with it. I hope that there will be another driver update before the end of the summer, however.

ah! the specs on multiwave direct (which are the official ones cuz I've seen them everywhere..I think) say the kt7a can handle 200 and 266 mhz. I didn't even know a kt7 without the A existed. Are you sure? Thanks
