Is Torchwood back?

I just noticed on BBC America a Torchwood I hadn't seen before.
At the end of last season Jack had disappeared into the Tardis (as I learned from last seasons Dr. Who).
So I am guessing that the episode Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang which is on now picks up from where Dr. Who ended and Jack returns to Torchwood and therefore this is the first episode of the new season?

D'oh! Yes, and I forgot the new season of Dr Who started last night as well.

Curse you BBC America for being a channel I ignore!

Well, actually the BBCA is showing the season that has already appeared on the Sci-Fi channel in the US.
But, fortunately, BBCA shows Torchwood a few times a week so I can see the first episode of the new season in its entirety.
I wonder when the new Dr. Who season will begin on Sci-fi?
and btw here is the preview for season 4 of Dr. Who

And I should add that this will be the last full season of Dr. Who until 2010:
wiki:

After a 2008 Christmas special and three further specials starring David Tennant, scheduled to air in 2009, Doctor Who is planned to return in 2010 for a fifth full length series

Looking forward to Series 4, and I'm curious to see how they get Rose back.

Yup, and james marsters stars. I'm in the UK so I see it first :D

If you saw last years drwho christmas special [the runaway bride] then you know who the next assistant is. I'm so annoyed by that, rose and martha where so much better.

Can't wait for Davross.

The first two episodes of the season are out. First episode rocked and I'm about to watch the 2nd.

Yes, the new companion is very different from Rose and Martha. Although, I did like the Runaway Bride.
To be perfectly hones, I didn't think Martha was a good choice, because she was so stunningly beautiful I couldn't get past looking at her.

One problem that I had with Torchwood was all the male-male kissing going on... Yuck.

Runaway Bride was a good episode until the villain was revealed. The spider thing was damned cheesy. The girl was really annoying, but by the end of the episode she showed some potential. I'll hold off judgment on her until I see more episodes with her as the Doctor's companion.

I like that it looks like we're going to see the Ood again.

Torchwood lost me the second they went with "I need teh s3x" monster in episode 1 (I think it was the pilot). It's been done before and lame. I tried watching other episodes, but couldn't get into it. The B cast isn't up to par and the lead is a bit annoying. Jack was ok in Doctor Who, but doesn't appeal to me as a lead.

Runaway Bride was pretty good. Monster was lame, but you can say that for most Doctor Who monsters. I actually liked that girl and was happy to hear that she'll be back.

Yeah, I mentioned the same thing to a co-worker. There's just something about the guy that is annoying in large doses.

Martha and Rose are hotter by far (especially Martha) but I thought the girl from Runaway Bride had a good rapport going on with the Doctor with the constant back and forth.

I have to agree on both counts. I like Captain Jack as an extra sidekick on Dr. Who, but not so much as a lead. However, I think that's more a fault of the writers than of the actor, as they're not doing enough with the Torchwood team, in my opinion.

You should watch 2x01 and then decide if you still dislike it. So far the second season of Torchwood has been a massive change in direction for the series, the characters are thinking with their big heads instead of their little heads, and the writing is a heck of a lot more consistent.

Sorry for the thread necro...

Season 2 has gotten a LOT better. The whole "Owen's dead" story arc is great so far, and Martha Jones was a welcome temporary addition. Looking forward to more...

I've been keeping up with this season and like it a lot better than Season 1. I agree with Kadarin that the Owen story arc has been fantastic (I've only seen up to episode 9) and it was good to see Martha again. And I am completely smitten by Toshiko.
