Cliff's Notes? I don't have the time or inclination to read an entire Tom's review.

TIA

I only skimmed, but they did miss the boat on optimal (T)RAS timings for nF3 250GB, muddled the conclusion about overclocking and the effects SATA can have on it, and left out that getting sata off the pci bus with the nV native solution can be a good thing. Other than that it wasn't too whacky from what I read of it and just showed a definite lack of familarity with AMD hardware that they definitely don't suffer from with Intel hardware. Using a 6800 series card would have been nice too, as it would have shown if the forceware opts could further seperate performance between chipsets with what is becoming a very popular series of vid cards.

I saw most of that stuff I just take that as normal Tom's stuff. Nothing that would make me spit out coffee ;)

I think he's referring to this sentence:

In comparison with the Pentium 4 models, the socket 939 Athlons came out on top: for gaming the Athlon64 is unbeatable, but it also showed better results for more typical applications.

That is not the sort of thing you expect to read at Tom's Hardware.

yeah Concillians right.

They said the 3400 wasnt worthy of its name a while ago and ripped the athlon 3000/3200 xp's, but ppl forget alot of benchies are made for Intel to quote a song " It seems to me, you always see what people always want you to see"

tom is known to be biased towards intel in his reviews. also, amd is currently faster in encoding then intel, as shown in the new generation intel vs amd benchmarks.

I just found it funny. Everything I have read over there, they are so totally pro Intel on every review. I just thought to read that little article and see them admit that AMD is faster :p:Q

It's imposible to hide the obvious facts. In fact, Tomshardware columnists are pro AMD, but this is intel who is paying.

It is pretty fitting for THG's new modus operandi, though: cheering for the guy on top.

Back in the day they used to always root hard for the underdog: Nvidia when 3dfx was handing their @sses to them, AMD when they were superior to Intel in the P3 vs Athlon days but not a universally well known company.

Lately, it's been all "cheer for the winners" though... Tipping their hats to ATI for the 9700 Pro, then jumping hard and fast back onto the Nvidia bandwaggon as soon as they got their act in gear; sucking Intel dry after the P4 C's came out, etc.

Now that AMD seems to be in the driver's seat again, THG can't jump bandwagons fast enough.
