Is Tivo smart enough to have taped the Survivor show after the Super Bowl?

It was supposed to start at 10pm but was delayed until around 10:50pm. Would Tivo have been smart enough to tape it?

It wouldn't, it uses the channel guide info to do the record and it's not as if they actively pushed your TIVO unit an update based on the change in start time for Survivor.

That being said, it was a good episode.

I don't believe PVRs can compensate on the fly for delayed airings such as this, or any type of live television that does not adhere to a preset time period. They have to go off the data in their channel guide, which is not updated in real-time.

I think TIVO is only as smart as the guide.

If the guide showed Survivor then it should have taped.

He's really asking if a show is delayed will the PVR/DVR figure out it was delayed by the previous program and compensate. We're not there yet I don't think.

No, it won't. I didn't set mine to record either but Stern was complaining about it Monday.

I don't think so. Tivo relies on the program schedule it downloads. I seem to remember my sister saying that MTV delays their programming by a few minutes every time it airs (ie: a 10pm show starts at 10:05) and that she had to program her Tivo to use a +/- 5min delay to get all of The Osbornes when it was on. The Tivo wasn't smart enough to know the show was starting at 10:05.

I don't know why they just don't program the software to watch for the TV14 logo to appear in the upper-left corner of the screen and start recording then.
