I know this guy that's a delivery driver for a resaturant. It's real food, not like pizza and subs,
but they mostly do take out and delivery. Average order is like
$12 a person. Anyways, I don't work there, but sometimes I've filled
in for him delivering.

When I've worked, the average tip is like $2 to $3 for orders around $25
If it's a big order like $50 or they get wine or beer... I'll get about $5 or $6

We get alot of orders to the dorms of the medical college around here.
There seems to be alot of Indians that live there and go to school.
Every order I've taken to someone that's Indian, except maybe one or two,
has resulted in a tip that's only change up to the next dollar.
($24.65 order ... $25 ... $0.35 tip). It doesn't happen with
others (black white, east asians) in that area. I know alot of the Indian people there are from India
and come over to attend med school studying abroad, so they are used
to customs from their home country. Is tipping a delivery driver a decent amount
unheard of there ?

Tipping is usually in small amounts in India (around 5%). But I guess when they are here they should do what is done here.

Tipping in India for anything is generally unheard of...

Most of the students that are from India will not tip you well, if at all.

Indians are stereotyped as "cheap" or "bad tippers" but the ones that are born or raised here in the US are generally not the same way.. I tip the Dominoes guy minimum of $3, more if its bad weather... The way I look at it, I am paying for good service the next time I order from the same place.

I have friends who are waiters and they've told me that Indians never tip well.

I am not sure this is true. I was there last December and everyone I tipped was more than happy to accept my gratuity.

here in argentina, you don't tip for anything, including delivery. In fact, delivery is cheaper than eating in the restauraunt

Yeah ... If it's obviously an Indian from America (speaks English ok, dresses a bit more normal) .... the tip is fine

Yes, tipping is insulting in India. I talked it over with my arranged-married wife while she was taking care of my fifteen kids. I remember the conversation distinctly, I made it while I was driving home from work at the convenience store. The conversation continued as I got home, my thick accent making it nearly impossible for any outsider to divine what we were talking about. Then I prayed to our gods, all of which are shaped like zoo animals and have multiple limbs, that you would stop calling up asinine stereotypes.

Tipping in Taiwan is completely unheard of. You don't do it for delivery guys, salons, Starbucks, or resaturants. Even cab drivers give exact change.

Really nice or "Western" resaturants might add a 15-20% "service charge", and it's generally accepted practice.

My experience doesn't account for Taipei because I've not spent a lot of time there. The Western influence may alter the way things are done there.
