Is tilting back in your chair something you don't do at work?

We all have Herman Aeron chairs at work and I've noticed that no one ever sits in theirs tilted back except for me. I've only been here a few days, but I have not seen a single other person do it. It's not that I can't sit straight up, but it's 10x more comfortable for me if I tilt back.

At my last office, most of the employees had their chairs locked in the upright position... but (before our chairs were replaced) all of the computer support staff left theirs unlocked. It was hilarious to see my boss sit down in one of them... because none of us would ever remember to lock them again... he would sit down, lean back, and panic when the chair started to recline. Net result? Our chairs were replaced with the most uncomfortable office chairs ever... and they didn't tilt. Net result to that? All of the backs on the chairs became damaged fairly quickly, because we all leaned against them, and they were very flimsy. :D

I have seen many people tilting/reclining in their office chairs, though. I've never heard of a rule against it... I'm sure there is in some insane company somewhere, but I've never heard of it.

Nobody cares if we slouch. That's stupid... gah... I hate the bullsh!t corporate culture where I work now, I couldn't imagine working in a place where you have to worry about whether slouching is acceptable.

I do it all the time.

As long as I produce results, who gives a rats ass how I sit?

I take out all my keys, wallet, coins and lay them on the table, loosen my belt, take off my shoes and cross my legs sitting on the chair. Sometimes I'll have one feet up on the chair. I sit by the window and everybody walking to and from the building can see me. So can cars on the road. :D

I take off my shoes and put my cell phone/wallet on my desk. I lean back as far as I please, sometimes with one or both arms above my head. Being comfortable is much more productive. I wish all companies would learn that.
