Is this why the Squirrel runs so many servers in his basement?

20Mb/sec is quite respectable for the boonies. But I'm sure all of the black bears have been lobbying for 5G coverage.

They'll probably start with just one transponder though and you'll have to fight the bears for it.

As someone from the Southern backwaters of Alabama (and no, that is NOT doubly redundant), I feel the squirrel's pain.

When I first moved here (central NJ) back in 2005, all I could get was DSL - barely an improvement over my 9.6k Hayes.

edit: Do you have any idea how long it takes to dl 3 minute porn video over 9.6k? Neither do I.

Oh crap, that reminds me I need to go give them water run some backups! Seriously though sex trafficking and well, pretty much crime in general, is getting super bad here in Canada and even in smaller cities. Mine has gotten super bad. The bigger problem here is drugs and theft but there's also human trafficking. We're starting to have tent encampments everywhere too and there's zombies everywhere now and it's getting worse. This is no longer the Canada that I grew up in that's for sure.

This girl did a pretty good speech on the whole issue actually:

As for connection I can actually get up to 250mbps with 30mbps upload if I really wanted to, we have fibre here now. I just chose to go with lowest package since it's good enough for my needs and is the cheapest. Costs of living keep going up so always finding places to cut. I sometimes joke that I should just join all the thieves stealing copper, they probably have more money in the bank than I do!

Do you think it's time for you to carry a gun for protection? Is that legal in your city?

Unfortunately not legal, self defense is barely even legal here, and that's part of the problem. If you hit them you're the one that gets in trouble. Store owners can't even do anything about shoplifters, all they can do is watch them steal. It's infuriating.

There's some stupid laws where I live too. One of the guys in my office parked his car under the building where I work. The upper floors are residential. Someone threw something from above and broke his windshield while he was working. He called the police. Since it was impossible to determine who threw whatever it was, the car owner had to pay the fine. Imagine that.

Connecticut is similar in that sense .... guy breaks into your home and threatens you/your family it should be 100% legal to terminate with extreme prejudice far as I'm concerned.

Your right to continue breathing ends at my front door if you enter uninvited and are a danger. Period.
