Beaters won't fall apart at 30 km/h. I wouldn't trust that thing at 10 km/h...

Oh it's very real - I took that last January in Cozumel. It even had the keys in the ignition! :Q

Ahh that explains it, I thought it was from Asia or somewhere in the ocean front states.

Reminds me of something I saw while in Erie, PA. A "car" was by the side of the road, and spray painted on the windshield was "FOR SALE" and on the side "20."

Could have had myself most of a car for $20.
I see places advertise in the Classifieds that will pay $100-$200 for a scrap car. It would have been awesome if I could have made $80+ on the thing. :)

But hey, at least the beater here has a clock. And a stencil. Very handy.

First thing I thought was "Mexican Taxi"

I had an interesting experience on Cozumel in a taxi. The driver was communicating with the other drivers with whistles and clicks that to an untrained ear would have sounded like the normal distortion you get on one of those taxi radios.

I wasn't sure if he was saying "I've got two Americans we can kill and rob" or "meet me after work for a beer."

I'd take their taxis over their planes any day. ;)

The keys in the ignition are a nice touch. :p

I'd like to point out that that bug was not originally a convertible BTW. That a custom job. ;)

Yep, Mid 70's beetle that was not originally a convertible. The top was cut to make it one.
