So I go to school in Flint and we just had the biggest storm that I have ever seen. It was pouring for around an hour, and super windy. Looking out it was like seeing those pre-hurricane shots on a beach. Water was coming down in sheets, and you could hardly see across the street. There was probably 2-3 inches of water running down the streets and sidewalks. The power went out twice, but only for a few seconds.
I was hungry and wanted to see what the damage was, plus I needed gas so I decided to take a drive. I couldn't go the way I normally go to get to Burger King, because the bridge was flooded and had 3-4 stalled cars on and around it, so I took the back way. There is a golf course that sits next to the Flint River and the river was so high all the course was flooded. The road had about a foot of water at several points where the drains couldn't handle the runoff, but my trusty Honda plowed through.
There were cars stalled all over (crappy old ones mostly), and branches down everywhere. After I ate my whopper, I headed to the gas station. There was one intersection w/ about 6in of water, but nothing bad. I couldn't get to Kroger to get gas, because Corunna Rd. is CLOSED. This is a 5 lane major road, and it's completely flooded at one point with 2 cars stuck in it. There was some sort of city worker w/ a truck blocking it off so more morons don't try and drive through it.
Leaving the gas station I could see down a side road into a neighborhood. The closest intersection had 2-3ft of water in it, and this big orange Chevy Avalanch was going through it at 15-20mph spraying water everywhere. As he pulls past me, my friend gives him a thumbs up and the guy nods. That is a man's man (however stupid he might for causing however much damage to his truck). There was another smaller truck stuck in the water.
The trip back was uneventful.
Cliffs:
It rained a lot in Michigan
no camera here = no pics
