Is this week's Best Buy DirecTV deal good?

I've been wanting to get a dish since I moved into my new place, but have been waiting for a good deal. This week, they're offering the following:

DirecTV 3-room system: 3 receivers with tri-LNB dish
Standard Installation
$50 gift card

for free after a $150 mail-in rebate. Also, you can get their TiVo model DVR39 for $94.99.

I really have no idea about what is and isn't a good deal for a dish setup. Anyone have any opinions on this particular one? Thanks.

Thanks...is that place reputable? It sounds like a good deal, but I don't want to get scammed and then not have any way of contacting someone at the store.

Sounds good to me, everything for basically $94.99 after MIR.

Will you be paying with a Visa, MasterCard or Amex credit card? If so, which one?

Its legit...they send the equipment and then a local company contacts you about installing it. Therefore any problems go thru the install company. When its installed you choose your programming and they have it set up right there and when they leave everything is running.

Umm...I don't know, I could pay with any of them. Does it make a difference?

Yes, which of those 3 would you most likely pay with (choose only one)?

Ok thanks. Did you purchase a system through them?

I would probably use a Visa, but like I said I could pay with any of them, as I have all 3.

That's a good deal. I would jump on it.

I ordered my system from Directv directly a few years ago. They sent out the equipment Fed-Ex and contracted to a local installer to come out and hook it up.

This is my third year as a happy Directv customer. I love that NFL Sunday Ticket.

Yes a year ago...they then asked ifi I wanted to be part of the referral program.

Whatever you do dont give anyone(anywhere) any info until you are sure you are going to get the system. Once you go into DTVs system you lose eligibility for the free stuff.

Does anyone know what direction a DirecTV sat has to be facing? I wanted to get DishNetwork but the dish has to face south-east which won't work for my apt.

I'm glad someone bumped this thread because I didn't see your response :)

I asked because some VISA credit cards offer a FREE 1 year extended warranty.

To see if your card qualifies for this service call VISA Card Services at 1-800-847-2113 give them your complete 16 digit VISA credit card number and ask if your card qualifies for warranty manager service? If it's a CitiBank Platinum the answer is most likely yes :)

IIRC, it states you have to a clear view of the southern sky...no reference to southeast or southwest....

Hmm south I can probably handle

Here's a rough drawing of my apt

BBBBB is my apartment building and my balcony faces East. I know it's an awful drawing :D
Will most installers come out and check my apt for free or will they charge me to do that?

When i was at my last apartment, I bought a two room system from Best Buy...My balcony angled Southwest, but it was not face south enough according to the installers so they couldn't install it. I returned the system to Best Buy for a full refund. Since the installation was free (part of the package), I didn't have to pay anything for them to come out.

I would imagine it would depend on the installers if there would be any charge for them to come out...
