I have a really old CRT right now and I want to replace it with a nice lcd monitor. I'm planning to get an 8800GTS next year and after that I'll decide to purchase a new monitor or not. Is this monitor worth getting? Thanks.

This monitor is OK but nearer entry level than top-of-the-line. All the 22-inch widescreens have similar specs, and often the same panel. You can read

The Official 22? Chi Mei 6-bit TN Panel Thread

Also, you can read more about the 22-inch/wide monitor HERE, even if the Viewsonic is not specifically tested in this comparo.

By the time you are ready to buy, the higher quality 24-inchers will probably be more affordable.

I was looking at this monitor also. The thing that caught my eye about this monitor is that it has an 85hz vertical refresh rate. All the other 22' that I have seen have a 75hz

I'll give you a pretty short cliff notes type on buying lcds.

Find out what panel type you want.
-TN's are the lowest grade, the highest is s-ips.

Find out what res you want.
-17", 20", 24" 30", any other size lcd has the same res as I mentioned before, just bigger pixels. For example a 19" has the same res as a 17" just that the 19" has bigger pixels.

Find out if you want either a 6bit or an 8bit panel.
-If you cant tell the diff then save your money and get a 6bit.
-16.7million does not mean true 8-bit.
-Make sure if you are getting 8-bit, that its true 8-bit and not 8-bit dithered.

Price?
-TN's these days are fairly cheap. You can get a decent TN for $250-$300.
-S-IPS are around $350-$400+

Where are some place to get good revies of some 20-22" LCDs

I got this screen at Costco for $300.00. CompUSA had the same one for $400.00. I'm pretty happy with it. I know it's not the best but 22" for three Benjies was too good to pass on.
