Is this Vid Card too much for my system?

I have a dilemma and I'm looking for an honest opinion.
I currently have a Abit MB with an 845 chipset and a 3.06GHz CPU which is overclocked to 3.45GHz giving me around a 600 MHz FSB. 1GB of Corsair RAM and a 128MB 9800 Ultimate Pro vid card round out the essentials. I am thinking of upgrading to a 256MB 850XT PE card but I'm not sure if this would actually outpace my system. Should I spend the 300 bucks so graphic hogs like F.E.A.R. will have better frame rates or should I just live with what I have until I build a new system in about a year? Thanks.

Nope, you're fine with that cpu. I ran an X800 pro with a 2.4Ghz P4 with 533mhz fsb, it was nice.

I would wait, and get a PCI-E mobo+7x00 or 1x00 series card...
