Is This Upgrade Worth It?

Currently I have:
XP 1600+
Radeon 9500 Pro
Soundblaster Audigy
80gig WD Drive
512mb RAM
MSI K7T266A Pro 2 Turbo

and I'm thinking of upgrading to a XP 2400+ (from 1.4ghz to 2.0ghz). I mean, usually I wait a lot longer to upgrade, but I think my CPU is bottlenecking me in some games (Splinter cell, etc).

do you overclock? If you do, you could get a 1700+ or a 2100+ and overclock to at least 2.1ghz+ if you get a tbred b.

quite a few are finding out ..more system ram is becoming needful(saying 512mb is not cutting it..as always ymmv ) in gaming..

get a faster chipset before u get a new chip.
Get an nforce2 board, then get an xp2100 and OC the crap out of it. See my big dawg rig.

I'd get more RAM. By just adding another 256MB (total 768 now) my games load up a lot faster, and SC4 plays much more smoothly now. Plus, DDR is cheap right now. Take advantage of it while you can.

my 1600 does 1.8gh (2200+) no prob, via 333 mobo tho, not sure how the 266 would work, im sure someone here could tell you, be nice if you could just get a 1700+ tbred or something and oc it and save some cash...and brag about having a great OC 😉
