are the r420 and the nv40 come out in two versions? one based on 8xAGP and the other based on a new generation of high bandwidth video card slots known as the PCI-X .😀.ill get a chance to upgrade again.

They may, depending on how quickly PCI-Express comes out. BTW, PCI-X is the 66Mhz PCI standard, and is totally unrelated to PCI Express. They just chose an unfortunate name for it.
 
I believe that what they are going to do until they can comfortably say everybody has a PCI-X MB.

So it will take a couple of years.

Note that PCI-X and PCI Express are two totally different technologies. PCI Express is the one that you want, not PCI-X.

Out ff interest, does anyone remember how long the switch to AGP took?
 
And you really didn't need the AGP slot until about 2000 or so. Interesting huh, and now its gonna go.
