Is this true with Windows XP ?

I was wondering, if this is true: Do you need to reinstall windows XP if you change your motherboard or cpu ?
I have heard this, but couldn't find verification.

Any if this is true.. anybody have any good suggestions on how to save my programs if I do need to reinstall XP. Example.. makeing the HD a slave on another computer .. then transfering via network...

(just looking if there are better or more effiecient ways to save my files and programs)

Cpu no.

Mobo, most likely you will have to reinstall. If you really know what you are doing and don't mind fooling with the registry, you can get away without a reinstall.

You can also get lucky and switch to a mobo with the same or similar chipset. 😀
