"You agree that you own a legal copy of any music, movies, software, games, or tv shows you intend to receive a backup for from easydownloadcenter.com. "

I guess it is a stupid question but do need the answer.

Why would anyone want to pay for a back up that I can do on my own & much easier than trying to download it from a site wasting time & bandwidth?

Would really appreciate the clarification.

Thanks

It's a scam.

Don't touch sites like that.

Even if it wasn't, it's still illegal to be running that kind of site.

It may be legit, but preys on the uninformed.

If you state that you already own the S/W, then they are just allowing you to download a backup. They are not trying to sell you pirate copies, just a unneeded service.

Do they provide the serial number or key etc. to make the software work or do you have to use the ones that you got when you purchased the original copy?

As one who as surfed the borders of tech legality, never pay money for anything unless u are POSITIVE it is legit. The various record companies
monitor sites like these, and they will suit u just to make a point. I wouln't join a site like this unless you feel like reading and comprehending EVERY page of their licence and privacy policies. Plus, they will probably ask for ur e-mail, in which case the site will become yet another source of spam.

It's simple. They're providing all this stuff as backup copies. So they can legally host the stuff and let the members take the heat for downloading files illegally (that is, of course, unless you own what you're downloading).

Unless you're using the site for downloading backups, you'll be paying them for something that's just as illegal as downloading it elsewhere.

This site is advertised on Download.com site itself.

Why would a legit & reputed site like Download.com let this kind of site put their Ad on the front page when Download.com itself is trying to sell the same kind software themselves?

You're getting too hung up on this, this is the internet. Once they start getting complaints, they will run the ad as long as the money is coming in.
