Is this transfer too slow? Going from D drive to M (firewire) drive

Going from D drive which is a 80GB 7,200 Maxtor to a M firewire drive which is a Maxtor 120 GB 7,200. The file is 12GB and it will take 107 minutes.

Let me see your math calc.

Thanks.

That seems very slow.

I just ran a test -- it took about 1 minute to transfer a 1.25 GB file to my generic Firewire HDD.

You should be looking at 10 - 12 minutes tops.

Are you running a firewire on your MB or on a PCI card. The firewire on my Nforce2 board is faster than firewire on my other board with a PCI card.

Running on PCI card plus I have 3 external drives going to the PCI card.
