It's an ok deal but 17" is HUGE and I'd prefer an Intel Core 2 Duo.

Assuming you're not a gamer and this isn't a desktop replacement I'd consider this Dell Vostro 1400 for $579 but I've seen better deals.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 with 17 inches? I think it is a bad idea because I am not sure the battery will run longer with 17 inches I know Intel Core 2 Duo would last better with 17 inches.
I have AMD TK-53 1.7 Ghz and it runs very fast with 15.4 notebook and the battery lasted about 2 hours.

It is a $600 machine with a relatively fast CPU, 2GB of RAM, Vista HP and 17" screen.

In my books, it makes it a helluva bargain!
