I just ordered a 2800+ athlon xp chip with an a7n8x. I havent overclocked in any way, but i am running at 53 degrees celsius. that seems a bit hot, even though i have arctic silver on the chip. any suggestions?

thanks

I have an A7V8X with an XP1600 chip and my stock CPU temp was running about 43C at idle and 50C under load. I cut a blowhole in the top of the case with an 80mm fan blowing out and the case temp dropped 20 degrees F. The cpu temps dropped about 8 - 10 degrees F. Since then, I have installed an Alpha 8045 heatsink, (one of them big suckers that bolts to the MB,) and a Tornado fan, and now under load I can barely reach a cpu temp of 38C. This is just a reference for you. I have got the impression that the newer XP chips run a little cooler than the older 1600-1800 chips but I'm not positive on that. What type of heatsink and fan are you running?

right now, i'm sitting here w/ the a7n8x and a palo 1700+ running 37c when idle. and that's w/ nothing more than a Alpha Pal 6035 on it.

of course it is in a Lian Li case w/ 4 case fans. :)

Im running a Dynatron DC1206BM-L with arctic silver 3 in there. I bought all this stuff from newegg and they recommended this cooler. Im thinking maybe i should get a couple of case fans. Thats probly the only way I can cool it down.

not exactly the greatest cooler. SVC had a good deal on the bare SLK-800 for 30$ which is on par with the Alpha PAL8045 and better then the Dynatron. But proper case ventilation always helps reduce cpu temps.
