Is this thing legit?

My girlfriend got a flyer with a scratch-off thing from a car dealership in the mail a couple days ago and I noticed it sitting on the counter today so I decided to scratch it out of boredom. It said we won a 3 day/2 night stay "vacation" and we had to go to the dealership to redeem it. I kind of laughed at first and glanced over the fine print, and it looked partly legit. We didn't have much else to do, so we swung by the dealership while we were out to see what the catch was and a salesman looked at the flyer, grabbed a voucher, signed it and handed it to us and thanked us for coming in.

It turns out this is through a company called world wide travel center and we can choose from a list of destinations, make a reservation and receive accomodations for a 3 day/2 night stay. Everything seems legit besides not knowing what kind of place we would be staying, and having to make a $50 "reservation deposit" by credit card.

So what do you guys think, should I toss this thing or give it a shot? We live in Florida and there are a bunch of "destinations" that are relatively close where we could go and just relax for a weekend, and if it turns out to be a sh!thole we won't be out more than a tank of gas or possibly our deposit, depending on how it works.

Every scratch card is a winner. The point is to get you to come in to the dealer and they will try and sell you a car.

The thing should be legit and safe. It might be a small room and all, but it should be ok.

you have to listen to a "time share" pitch, they'll lock you in a room for a couple of hours with a high pressure saleman to get you to pay 400% for a time share

if you are tough as nails, you can do it. if you are suceptible to high pressure sales, then DON'T go

This is what I came to say. Same goes for those cars you see in malls. If you read all the details you'll see that to become eligible for the raffle you have to attend a time-share seminar.

Yep.. everyone is a winner. But you have to sit through a timeshare presentation, which can last 1 - 5 hours depending on when you cave in to their high pressure tactics..

lol I'm 20 and sure as hell won't be buying a timeshare anytime soon. BTW, not every "prize" was the same. In the fine print on the the flyer it said chances of winning the vacation thing were 1:12...not trying to say I feel lucky or something, but they were giving other things away as well.

Look at where the vacation is.

You will be responsible for getting there; they only cover lodging, not food.

Ah, I have something similar but from a different company (Ramada Plaza Resorts). They're asking for a $50 refundable deposit too, but I'm like.. "What's this for?" 😕

I haven't gotten a response back yet, so I'm really skeptical about it.

Anyway, the last time I did this, you were limited to when you could actually go to the vacation spot, like our 3 day/2 night vacation to Vegas was limited to Tues / Thursday.

That was lame, so I took the cruise but never actually registered, so it all expired. 🙁

I went to a silent auction fundraiser a few years ago for a preschool this girl I was seeing worked at, we bid on a cruise and ended up being the winners, it was through that same exact company that you linked.

Didn't have any issues, just had to follow their rules as to how to claim the cruise and went to the Bahamas Nassua island for a 3 day 2 night trip on a Carnival cruise ship.
