Is this THE year for the 360?

I was looking through the "Coming Soon" titles and noticed a lot of them are titles that I suspect, and in a few cases KNOW, will be great games:

Future Releases:

Ace Combat 6 ~ 10-25 ~
Jericho ~ 10-23 ~
TimeShift ~ 10-30 ~
Need For Speed Pro-Street ~ 11-1 ~
Call of Duty 4 ~ 11-5 ~
Blacksite: Area 51 ~ 11-5 ~
Army of Two ~ 11-13 ~ Delayed until Q1 2008
F.E.A.R. Files ~ 11-8 ~
Assassin's Creed ~ 11-15 ~
Mass Effect ~ 11-20 ~
Guitar Hero 3 ~ 10-28 ~

Past Releases:

BioShock
Halo 3
The Orange Box

And that's just a few of them. What do you guys think, is this the pinnacle of games for the 360?

Well not quite, those games are good but there have been better years in gaming, personally I think the best of the 360 has already passed, Bioshock, Orange Box and Halo 3.

If anything, this is the year of the PC, so many great games coming out.

I Guess so. Halo 3 and Bioshock kind of make the 360 the most popular for this year. However almost every game on that list except for 2 or 3 are the PS3 anyway, I wouldn't say those games are going to drive the 360, but they are still going to be good.

COD4 looks sick, AC is a combination of PoP, Splinter Cell, and Hitman, so it can't be bad. Army of 2 looks great. Kane and Lynch looks great.

too many games 🙁

I hope not, since the only games I am getting/have gotten for the 360 are Halo 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect.

It is a decent year, but I hope it isn't the pinnacle.

I forgot to mention Mass Effect. BioShock and Halo 3 are notables as well and go along with the year. My train of thought when I created this thread was on the titles that have yet to be released this year but past releases are definitely included.

Better year for the 360, or consoles in general? If the latter, I was focusing on the 360. If not, then please name the year/titles.

Three games on that list are exclusive. Two of them are system sellers. If that's all we're getting all year then I am extremely disappointed.

Although they're not exclusive, you didn't mention Guitar Hero 3 or Rock Band. I'm quite sure the first will be popular like the other two (excluding that rip-off 80's "mod" of GH2). Also, the 360 has an exclusive Naruto game coming out at the end of the month from Ubi Montreal. It's been getting some good praise at IGN as being a more unique experience compared to your typical fighting games.

As per the initial question, the 360 will definitely have more exclusives this year than the other consoles. The PS3 really only has Folklore, Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted. Unfortunately, two of the three are relatively unknown and probably will not affect console sales. The Wii, just like the Gamecube before it, is stuck with mediocre 3rd party titles and is kept afloat by Nintendo (games) and their wand-wavin' marketing.

Don't forget Orange Box on past releases.

I said it in another thread - but I'm completely excited about the title list for this holiday season for the 360. Last year there was GOW, and, well, nothing. Never really felt like there was a stout lineup for the 360, but it finally seems like theres a lot to get excited about, exclusive or not. I'm really happy with my 360. With as little time as I have to play video games, I don't think I could have made a better decision with the PS3 or a Wii in comparison.

Multiplayer wise R6: Vegas blew GoW out the door. Only thing good about GoW was
it's campaign which was short.

Is Lost Odyssey coming out this year? I know it hasn't been in the spotlight as much, but I would add that to the list if I were you. The lead creative designers and music directors basically consist of all of the old school Final Fantasy team. The E3 trailer looked nice!

This quickly fell off my anticipated list when I heard it has 20 hours of cutscenes.
