Is this the right card?

Ok, I ordered this card from Newegg and got it from Fedex yesterday. When I opened it up it doesn't look like the product picture though. There are no heatsinks on the ram and the heatsink fan on the gpu looks a lot like the one I have on my northbridge. It is in my computer right now, works fine, and is being identified as the right model (TI-4200 8X 128MB), I'm just wondering if I got gyped on the card. I'd appreciate any thoughts anyone has.

I don't think you got one with agp 8x. If I remember correctly, msi's first ti4200 model didn't have the big copper/anodized aluminum heatsink on it. Then when they came out with an agp 8x model it had the new heatsink. Was the card you got a refurb?

Alright I looked around msi's site for a minute and found this. Is that the card you got? As you can see, that is not an agp 8x card. It would also say under display setting what card it was and if it had agp 8x.

According to Newegg it isn't supposed to be a refurb. On this link it is the $122 card. I found that one you found on the MSI page too. I don't think the heatsink was that large actually. I'll have to check it out when I get back to my apartment.

Checked under device properties and it is identified correctly but since I'm running a Soyo Dragon Plus it is only 4x AGP. I'll try to get a picture up here in about 20 or 30 minutes.

Okay, here are the pictures.

I know they aren't very good but they are the best that my only digital camera can do. As I was remembering, it doesn't match up to the one found by modedepe on MSI's page. I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions anyone might have.

Edit: Links removed

Hmm I really have no idea what they sent you. I can tell you for sure that's not the one you were supposed to have recieved, as I have that card. What did it say on the box this card was in?

Nope it's not one of those. The product number they listed is the same one that's on my box, and mine looks exactly like newegg's pics. Obviously they had some sort of mix up

The box is the same box that is in the pictures at Newegg. Everything else that is supposed to be there is there, the cables, dongles and all the CD's. And like Newegg, the box says that the actual product may vary from the one shown where the box shows the one with the larger heatsink. I don't know. Maybe they decided to cut costs by eliminating the RAM heatsinks? I've got no idea. It is running fine though. I haven't done a whole lot 3D but I have done enough to make sure it does 3D. And since both Newegg and MSI says the actual prodcut may vary from the pictures, I don't know if either one of them would do anything about it. Thoughts or suggestions, because I'm coming up dry right now.

It seems kind of strange that they would change the model to cut costs, as the big heatsink is supposed to be one of the features of that particular card. Anyways though, if I were you I guess I'd probably just make sure the card has all the features it's supposed to, such as vivo, etc. And if it does have all the advertised features, I guess just keep it, unless you were really dying to have the one with the big heatsink.

Yeah, that was kind of what I was thinking. I'll have some more time to put it through its paces this weekend (3D gaming, possibly VIVO but I would need to get a really long cable for that) and if it seems to work then I'll just stick with it. I almost feel like I'm getting the shaft though. The heatsink means nothing to me but now I'm wondering if the card is actually what I think it is just with a different heatsink.

Hey guys, I forgot to say this last night but thanks for the help. If I have any significant updates I'll update this thread.

Update:

I ended up contacting MSI through their webpage and sent them the part number that was on the card and the pictures I took. Here is their response:
It is the correct card with a original heatsink fan. We do have different shape fan but they have the same function.

I questioned them on the fact that the specific heatsing/fan combo pictured was a feature why was it different on my card and if the PN I supplied them corresponded to the correct card. I don't know if I really believe them because this was the kind of blow off response I was expecting. So far the card works ok. I think I have a power related problem with it (I think it is drawing more than my power supply can give it) so I'm going to try to fix that this weekend and really test it. Thanks for everyone's help.
